About ten years ago Ireland was already becoming friendly to teh vegetarian, every resteraunt having a single vegetarian option (lasagne made with baked beans, or stir fry). Now we have become a bit more sophisticated and in any resteraunt you will always find vegetarian options, though perhaps the choice might be a little more limited than for the omnivore. Your main problem will probably be in a bed and breakfast, where you will miss out on the best part of the Irish breakfast, but again, there are always plenty of alternatives. Ireland is quite tolerant of vegetarians, like England, as many among them have chosen that path ;), France is the place where you would find yourself subsisting on cheese and crackers. |

I'm an Irish vegetarian. Nowadays it is quite easy to get vege food almost everywhere in Ireland. Some pubs don't have a great selection and may just offer salads or cheese sandwiches -( pubs do lunchtime meals and buffets). Almost all restaurants do offer some sort of vegetarian option. We also have lots of indian, italian and chinese restaurants and they always have veg food.
Most restaurants will make something up for you even if there is nothing on the menu specifically vegetarian.
If you are from the States you will find food expensive but we are very friendly and that makes up for it. Also the craic (fun) is good in most pubs and elsewhere.
Enjoy. |

Hiya, it really depends on where you are going exactly.
If you're talking about very rural areas then you may run into problems. But if you are going to visit towns you should be ok.

And welcome! |

I'm a vegetarian and in general when i go out for dinner i dont have any problems in finding meals to eat. There is the odd place that doesnt do a great job of catering for vegetarians , but that is not the norm, most restaurants know they need to accomadate different dietary taste, and therefore provide a few different non meat dishes as choice on their menus. I'v been to many places all over Ireland and whether its the city or more rural areas in the countryside, from my experience you should be fine finding food to suit you. Enjoy your trip |

You'll find your style of food in almost every resteraunt nowadays. The main agricultural export of Ireland is beef and cattle so don't be too surprised if we're meat mad here |
