Yes, they do.

= )

benny
Officially yes , but we still use imperial when we measure a persons height/weight , distances we use both (depends who you talk to) size of a room could be measured in either to , that would come down to age , generally speaking metric is getting more and more the norm due to the younger generation learning metric in school , I would say that maybe in about 20 years will will be fully metric , we are about half and half right now

Officially, yes. But some of the older people don't. Can make things complicated ...

CuriousJ
Height and weight - imperial
Traffic signs and speed limits - metric
Distance (if you ask directions) - imperial
Milk in a shop - metric
Beer in a pub - imperial
Size of a house - either
Buying meat in a butcher - either
Temperature - metric

Confused? Sure am

Misty Blue
Sure do.

deburca98
Actually ireland went metric in 1971 with, we held off till 2005 to change the speed limits to metric.
The metric system is a much better system, we should try to use it more as the imperial system is an antiquated dinosaur

yup we do indeed

Bulgarian B
yes

metric system:
Metres
centimetres
kilometres
kilograms
litres
etc

temperature
degrees celsius

dsoc
Yes, we use both systems correctly.

We also use other systems, such as imperial weights & measures, driving on the left and answering the question we are asked (as opposed to the one people think they asked).

Why When How
Rating
yes but many people still use the imperical system for weights, heights and distance in Ireland

Martina L
Rating
Yes, but they went metric in January 2005 so a lot of people still talk in miles, pounds and feet.

OMG

metric system since 2005 at the cost of 58,000 road signs and celcius yes.

slipstreamer
Yes, it's the standard in Europe and most of the industrialized world. The US uses non-metric as well as metric (for scientific and shipping purposes)

xxtcurryxx
