Donegal is a nice place to go to for a dirty weekend. It's only up the road from Dublin. Sher you could walk there if ya had a good pair of shoes.

Malahide in north county Dublin is a great option for a weekend in Dublin. It's only 7 miles from the Airport and is a lovely village on the coast. It has lots of bars and dozens of small restaurants and bistros. Amazing walks from Malahide along the coast road to Portmarnock. In the day you can get into Dublin City on the Dart in 30 minutes and head back in the evening for all the craic in the village pubs which stay open till about 2 am. Then head into Portmarnock to Tamango's nightclub till the early hours. Have brunch in Gibneys pub on Sunday morning and listen to a live band in the afternoon. Stay till the very last minute 'cause its only 15 minutes in a taxi to the airport.

Waterford is lovely, you'd be near the sea. Tramore is nice for a walk.

get on the dart and go to howth.

Waterford??? That's like 2-3 hours away! I would say Celbridge, Athlone or Portlaoise.
By the way Maynooth is in Kildare it's a town in Kildare.

Glendalough is beautiful if you've got a car and it's very close to Dublin

From Dublin, I would drive the 3 hours to Galway and find a lovely B&B by the bay. It's a nice city & there are loads of things to do there.

Plus you'd get to drive all the way from the East to the West coast of Ireland, sea to sea.

Have fun,

V.

I think Waterford is overrated especially Tramore. Very dreary. Yawn. Cork is better. I think the east coast has more going for it. Galway is okay but thats 3 and half hours by car. Wicklow/Wexford is my suggestion

Waterford 2 and a half hour journey but well worth it.

U ca go out to tramore down to dungarvan places like Dunmore East all lovely and go down to Youghal in cork not too far and great nightlife aswel
Nothin of any great significance in Kildare

Of all though 3 hours to Galway could be best option by far the best place to go out in Ireland go for a stroll in Salthill go out to Connemara to see the real Ireland

When we stayed in Ireland we went to a lovely little village on the coast called Malahide (think that's the spelling) and had a great time.
