Im voting no. Why?
1 -The EU council told all countries NOT to hold a referendum. They were not happy with Ireland, but because of the strength of our courts, we HAD to have one.
2- Not holding a referendum undermines the rights of people in other countries to have their say.
3- Although the government claims that Irish neutrality will not be affected, we CAN be forced to spend money building up our army.
4- Ask the farmers.
5 -The EU council have won't allow any institution to publish a proper document fully explaining the whole treaty. They say they will publish one when the treaty is voted in. They want us to bring in a treaty, and THEN they will explain it! That's like signing s job contract without reading it!
6 -Co orperate taxation will be raised to EU levels. This is tax on foreign companies. In Ireland it is low, and this is why we are doing well economically. If the treaty comes in, we will be forced to raise it, and foreign companies will leave. There WILL be job losses!
7 - Every 10 years, for a period of 5 years, Ireland will have NO representaion at the EU commission.
8- This treaty is not properly explained. Don't vote for change if you don't know what the change is. VOTE NO!

lol, thats a good question, nobody really knows, we have the US military playing the field for a no vote though so just because of that i'd vote yes :)

Most ppl who are going to vote no are worried the new treaty will over ride the irish constitution and that european tax laws will pre-empt irish tax laws and affect Irish neutrality and will legalise abortion and gay marraiges gosh darn it!!

Most ppl who are planning on voting yes say it no more than a formalising of laws etc already in place and won't make a huge difference to the day to day running of the country but will make exports and doing business europe wide easier

Personally i think europe has to keep moving forward all the other neutral countries which didn't have a referendum passed it through their supreme courts before their parliments voted yes to ensure its legality as to their own constitutions, we should have done the same in ireland. Irish voters are too fickle and if they don't know what their voting for, they hedge they're bets and vote no. the debate will be endless with no real victor i expect the vote to be really close either way...

AnteK
vote no.
because
to put it simply:
there is a lot of badness surrounding the treaty
but no one knows what they are
so if we vote no
hopefully they will explain it better
because if we reject it
things will just remain the same.

but the bad things are(if you want to know):
-we get a LOT less of a say
-the EU get more of our money
-the eastern countries will get a better deal
-the EU will have a greater control on our laws

No. Let the European parliament go back to the drawing board and re draft this treaty.
there are some good aspects to it but why should the people of Ireland and the other countries blindly accept this Treaty without further amendment and clarification.Just because being a member in the past benefited Ireland, especially the farmers,is no reason to vote yes this time.

Kris......

No-want to keep a democracy and keep power in national governments

No- people are saying that it is going to benefit the irish economy with more jobs etc
But dear people, are we forgetting that Ireland joined the EU in 1973...and then came the 80s? Anyone who was working class will surely remember what the EU did for us that decade....nothing.

Yes , Europe is an emerging superpower with the euro becoming more favoured than the dollar in developing countries, we are doing no favours in europe by voting no, I was originally going to vote no but after looking at what can be gained with europe a yes vote is a better option for irelands long term economic future.
I would rather be in the hunting pack than be the hunted.

vote yes. Ireland would be nothing without Europe, forget our mouldy potato eating heritage and become part of the modern world.

the only reason everybody is saying ''vote no'' is because our dumbass politicians said it and now everyone has joined the bandwagon, where was the glorious Irish government when our health system fell into a shambles? off on sun holidays thats where or preparing fancy weddings for their whores. forget Ireland, Europe is the Future.

Vote no. What on earth does Ireland have to lose by standing up for its own sovereign powers. Jeez you haven't even had them for 100 years yet.
