Well, Americans are very individualistic and extremely varied - we have something for everyone really. We have pretty much always been multi-cultural and that has led to conflict at times - as well as great creativity due to the interaction and melding of other cultures into the American culture. The US is the birthplace of Jazz, soul, blues, gospel, country music and rock and roll (punk too) - and hip hop/rap, almost forgot hip hop!

Each state is almost like it's own country - you will meet a very different American in say Texas or New Orleans, as opposed to California, Alaska, Alabama or NY. The land is extremely varied as well - we have deserts, sub tropics, rainy green bits a lot like Ireland (Portland and Seattle) glaciers,....etc...We have active volcanoes and stunning natural beauty like the Grand Canyon and the redwood forests (some of the oldest living things on earth).

So hard to sum it all up. Come visit, have a look around...explore the country off the tourist track and get to know the real US.

Not sure if I answered your question, hope I helped a little - I have been to Ireland - lovely country you have there :)

Dont judge our country by one person encounters,we have a very deverse population who represent all sprectums of a social, political, regional area, and religious views,Hope you have some helpful guide who help you sort this out.See as much of the country as posible and enjoy it--thx for this question.

Hi Irish girl, I just visited your country and had an AWESOME time. What I can share is to embrace the mixtures of cultures here. You see a little bit of everything in every state. And every state has it's own beauty and sass. :) Good question!

hi you
i have been there twice and what i found is that you need to be in a city or big town if not you will need a car all the more to get around what you may find odd is during the working the people go to bed early(9pm to 10pm the latest) and are up early to as they normally have to drive many miles to work in my two trips there i found it very odd that there normally dont say in miles how far they have to go but how long it takes and when you take there roads are very good to what they are here this could would out longer miles wise

Hi Irish Girl - I'm Irish too but born in America :). We are pretty nice here, but like someone else said, of course there is bad with the good, so don't let one or two or ten grouchy people make you think we are all like that. Once we hear that wonderful accent we can't help but love you! Another thing, we are very proud of our country, so please if you feel any negative feelings about our politics, please don't mention it while here. I hope you have a good time while you are here. Please let us know all about it when you get back!!!
