My son's name is Kelly -- it means Irish warrior. Might be good for the book.

haggesitze
Bartholomew (Bertie)Aherne
Padraig Flynn
Ray McSharry
Michael McDowell
Michael O'Leary would be good as the head honcho, with Mary Harney as the honcha
other charcters could include Charley the godfather and Paddy the Plasterer, Ben Dunne, the reputable businessman....

A common thing that is done with nicknames in Ireland(especially Dublin) is to add vowels to the end of names
e.g Dean - Deano
Mick - Micka
Liam - Liamo.
Frank - Frankie

Add a typical Irish surname and you have a normal Irish name
e.g. Micka Kelly, Liamo Doyle etc etc

Stay away from real Irish names, such as Ronan or Diarmuid or strange names like that. I have yet to see an Irish gangster in the news called Cathal O' Mhurchu.
