Irish passport query? |
Hi all, i've never been abroad, so have never gotten a passport. In a few weeks me and my 4 children will be visiting my sister in the uk. I've booked flights with ryanair, and i can travel using my drivers license, and the children don't need photo id travelling with ryanair between the uk and ireland. As this is my first trip i'm scared when we are boarding or something they will still ask for photo id for the children. I am thinkin of getting a passport for myself but can i put the children on my passport or do i have to get one for each of them. |

Be warned ringing Ryanair costs an arm and a leg.
Found this on their site:http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=pid&quest=photoid&xtmc=I.D.%20for%20children&xtcr=104
Photo-ID is not required for children when travelling with an adult if:
* Children under 16 are travelling between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland or on domestic flights within either the United Kingdom or Ireland FROM 1st OCTOBER 2009 ONWARDS THE ONLY ACCEPTED PHOTO ID FOR CHILDREN UNDER 16 WILL BE A VALID PASSPORT OR VALID EEA GOVERNMENT ISSUED NATIONAL ID CARD.
So according to that you won't need I.D. for them.(Over 16's need I.D. like national identity card)
Note: if you have any really young ones take their birth certs, infact wouldn't hurt to take one for each of them as a precaution. |

there is no way you can put your children on your passport. The rise in child abductions , re, Madeline McCann, has ensured that it is not so easy for a child to move between borders.
I was away at Christmas with my nephew who was 14 months at the time, and he needed his own passport. It was funny seeing his little photo, but it was reassuring knowing he had it it too.
I was coming home from Spain in Feb, and I overheard the reps, saying a couple were coming, with a 2 yr old, and they had lost his passport, 1 rep was telling the other, there is no way this couple could be let on, as it was a criminal offence.
If I were you, I would double check, what ID is required, but for your own safety, I would get individual passports for each of the children. |

Maybe look at Ryanair policy on photo ID for children for clarification if you are unsure http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=pid&quest=photoid
They would have to have their own passport, you can't add children onto an adult's passport anymore. |

no you can no longer put your kids on your passport, they must have their own. it takes about 3 weeks to get it. you can always call ryanair help line to ask if they would let you on without the passport for the kids. ive called them before about other things and they were helpful. |

No, you can't put the children on your passport, each child will need their own passport - this has been a requirement for several years.
Ring Ryanair & ask them to confirm that they will accept your driver's licence and that the children don't need photo ID if you accompany them (ask if you should bring their birth certs as ID).
If your ID is rejected you won't get as far as boarding, they'll reject you at the check in desk. |
