dollymix (now geeky for a month)
Well there are trad bands, beoga, flook etc, but they play trad music, the ones with the fiddles, bodhráns, concertinas, etc.(thank my friends from Rathcairn for letting me remember those names! Mad trad heads! Love them to bits!)
There are singers aswell
-Christy Moor
-Christy Hennesy
-The pouges
but there all older type music.

Other singers are like
-The Coronas(savage!)
-The Blizzards (also savage! love Fantasy, great song)
-Snow Patrol(again savage!)
-BellX1
-Ham Sandwich
-U2
-Damien Rice(love 9 crimes!)
-The Thrills
-The Cranberries.

Most are quite cool! :-)

....seriously, I can't believe anyone could recommend The Thrills to anyone, I'd rather clean my ears with a red hot poker then listen to them

Depends there are lots of traditional artists and bands like The Pouges, Dubliners, Christy Moore, Christy Hennesy, the Fureys, Chieftains, Sweeny's Men, Clancy Brothers, Clannad and Planxty

Or there r irish musicians who r not traditional like Van Morrison, Hothouse Flowers, Damien Rice, Damien Dempsey, Sinead O' Connor, The Cranberries, The Corrs, Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy, The Immediate, The Blizzards and sadly yes the Thrills. All these bands and artists play soul, indie, rock etc... if u want 2 know some songs just look up Wild Rover, Molly Malone, When You Were Sweet Sixteen, Whiskey In The Jar etc.. they'll get u by
Hope this helped in some way enjoy the music anyway :D

U2 and Snow Patrol.

= )

xxEllexx
very "irish", traditional ceili stuff.....lol
The pogues
The Dubliners
Christy Moore

But these are waaay cooler and way more my style - mostly rock/indie (and still irish!)
U2
The Thrills
Snow Patrol
The blizzards (amazing new indie band...but i think their album is only on sale here in Ireland....try looking up "fantasy" or "trouble" on limewire.) "superdug" is the funniest song ever!
BellX1
The Coronas
Damien Rice (he lives near me lol) try "cannonball"
Thin Lizzy
The Devine Comedy
The Cranberries

I like Irish music too. When I lived in DC I was really close to this Irish pub that would bring in Irish bands all the time.

If you have any large music store where you live you could check out their world music section.
