No its Scots/English. You will find many people in ireland called Adams but it's most likely the name was brought over by Ulster Scots... And yes that includes Gerry Adams.

Not particularly, all it means son of adam, and as Adam is not particularly an Irish name, I wouldn't say that has a strong link to being Irish.

Could be. Look a name like Hunt for all its worth is an English surname, but there is irish translation.
