Dublin is lovely in parts, terrible in others City Center around Stephens Green and Merrion Square is lovely All Georgan buildings.

UCD has a very good college bar. but it will be quiet in the summer.

there is a regular bus service from ucd to Dublin City center is full of pubs and trendy bars. night link service operates till late 3-4 o'clock at night.
Hogans on georges Street has good music
Whelans of wexfod street famous music venue

if you are with a crowd and can afford it try late night at the Gaiety Theater just off Grafton Street or Spirit off O Connell Street
We drink very heavily in Ireland

if you are staying around Grafton Street
Try to find raynards....
its a night club 'wild but safe'

Dublin's my favourite city, loads of things to do. The best pubs are all around Temple bar. Have a great time.

Dublino è stupenda!Vacci, io sono stato a trovare la mia ex ragazza nel 2004 (studiava alla DCU)...è una città con un paesaggio stupendo!

Dublin is not a typical nice city, but people who live there are so good and dear and friendly, and pubs have an incomparable feeling.

Dublin is a beautiful city and a great place to live. I live just down the road from UCD in Milltown. UCD is a great place to study - the library is amazing, you'll get lost in it! Don't be afraid to ask questions when you get there, and grab a map!

Sorry the weather is kind of crap right now... you might want to bring an umbrella :)

weeman1971
Well done for getting in to Dublin. Yes it is a very beautiful place, I am green with envy for you.

I'm Italian as well and I'll be travelling to Dublin next week. I think we've made the right decision, at least judging by the answers you have got so far. So many thanks to all of you fellow users. Have a nice holiday, Italian Girl (but don't forget your brolly).

You will love it.
I love UCD: the students and staff are so friendly. It won't take long to meet people in Ireland.

Great places to go right in the city centre:
Guinesss brewery, Jameson distillery, Trinity College, National Gallery, National Museum, Phoenix Park/Dublin Zoo

Dublin is also great starting point for day trips to the Wicklow mountains (short trip on the train or bus), the southern (e.g., Bray, dalkey, Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire), and northern coastal towns (Malahide, Swords, Howth) --via the suburban transit rail line, DART.

Some good student places to go:
Cafe en Seine on Dawson St.(right opposite Trinity College)
Oilcan Harry's on Lower Mount Street (hangout for American College Dublin, UCD, and Trinity students)
Kaffe Mocha on Wicklow Street (behind Stephen's Green shopping centre)
The Globe on George Street (Wi-Fi spot and jazz music at night)
Howl at The Moon (Lower Mount Street near oilcan's)
Spirit (off O'COnnell ST by SuperMac's)
Fireworks (off Pearse Street, near Trinity)
RiRa (Dame COurt off Dame Street, near Grafton St)

Is Dublin beautiful?

Are you serious?

NO it's not - is the simple answer.

It's nickname (by the locals) is Dirty Dublin.
