Is Dublin a good night out for new years eve?

I doubt anything can compare to that of Moscow/Moskva, Russian Federation...not even Dublin.

It's good. New Years is pretty crazy. Some places sell tickets at high prices to get in. A lot of tourists from America, Scandinavia, and England were there when I went out New Years in Dublin. Taxis are non-existent, so go someplace near to where you are staying, so you do not have to be bothered searching for one and paying extremely high fares.
The comment about Christmas being dead is right. Many people I knew went to Thailand and other warm places. Also, EVERYTHING is closed that day, so be warned. Everything is also closed New Years Day. Shops open after new years and sell the same stuff you bought people for Christmas at 75% off! Grafton Street and Henry Street will be so busy that day!

sure it is. Street parties, pubs are all free. You have to pay into shows and dinners in hotels of course. Prices may be high, but the entertainment is great. Come and see for yourself.

Dublin is good fun at new year but also I would recommed that you try and go to a organised advent as most of the pubs/nightclubs get rather packed. U should stay in central of the city as there is always problems getting home, no taxis. Enjoy your time in dublin, best pubs are around baggot st, advise u to stay away from temple bar, as there is usually a few arguments, few drunking irish people ha ha. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dublin is brilliant,any- time,if you don't have a great time there, you might as well top yourself.Good luck.

depends what your looking for most places would have events organised so you would need to book. Pubs would be lively enough and most would have music ,if you want something more formal I would try the hotels. good luck

I really think Dublin is the BEST for new years eve !

Exemple : doors between pubs are open, if you go to gogarty's u can then go to the next one and the next one without having to go outside !

The best place in Europe!

Dublin is completely dead at Christmas.
Hard to believe, I know, but I lived there for 5 years and it is a nightmare at Christmas. A Catholic country...and the locals all shoot off around the world for a few days.
Try it for yourself if you don't believe me.
