The republic is a seperate country to Northern Ireland. Rich list said it was an island nation. |

You have asked a very good question but the answer can only be no. Ireland is an island country but not an island nation in order to be a nation it would need to have the same government and the ethnic mix to agree they are the same. This is of course a problem as they have been fighting for hundreds of years saying that they are not the same.

Ireland is not an island nation, it is an island state. An island nation is an island that is within the political borders of a country, therefore because Ireland is a divided country, i.e the south is controlled by the Irish Gov. and the North by the British Gov. and so it cannot be called a island nation. The rich list better brush up on their political sources, because its just not right. |
