The Republic of Ireland is very expensive to live in, compared to Great Britain and other countries. Prices are often very high, even for basics like groceries, and house prices/rent can be extremely high, especially around the Dublin area. |

The republic of ireland was rated the 4th most expensive country to live in earlier this week. But also wages reflect the cost of living too. The most expensive city is Dublin, its such a rip off to eat out, drink etc. |

Ireland is very expensive to live in. Although the North of the country is a bit cheaper as the currency is sterling (as opposed to euro). But lets be honest here, there aren't many places left that are dirt cheap anyway!
If you are seriously considering moving to Ireland, you should at least visit here, to see if you like it. |

It's not and the reason is because we're being fleeced by the major supermarkets who think that we'll pay exorbitant prices for the same ould shyte that you can get across the border for half the price.
The people of this country should organise a day of boycott where we refuse to shop in any of the major department stores and supermarkets until they lower their prices. |

It used to be rather inexpensive. Now it is just the opposite, everything is overpriced. I'd wait, or go as a student. |

i just moved in to Ireland and compared to other European countries it is expensive to live in. They use the euros and it is almost at par with the sterling so it increases the cost of living. groceries, imports and all are fairly on the high side, but its a good place to live in anyway. loads of tradition you wont want to miss. |

The figures say the free state is the most expensive place to live in Europe.
Northern Ireland is catching up fast, although still cheaper than the free state. |

The Republic uses the Euro which is heading for parity against the poor old pound thus making EU countries more and more expensive . Northern Ireland / Ulster is part of the UK and uses sterling thus prices and the cost of living is the same as the rest . |
