Is Ros na Ruin a true portrayal of people in the West of Ireland?

I've watched Ros na Ruin a few times and I just wonder do people from the West get angry at being portrayed like that. Everyone seems to be arguing all the time, backstabbing, sleeping with anyone who has a pulse, cheating and lying.
Additional Details
Yes, I know it's a soap opera but your never see anyone in it you like. It's the portrayal of the people in it I'm talking about, their behaviour is so over the top and I was wondering if you live in Galway or anywhere in the West, do you go offended by it, because it portrays you in a bad way.

No its the same as all the other soaps

Orla C
Here's your clue, love: it's a soap opera designed to get people watching it. It's not real life at all. Well, maybe there are some backstabbing, lying, cheating, fornicators there, but most of the people in the west are not quite like that.

Leaine Ni Loingsigh
You can't really get offended by a soap! Do the people of Dublin get offended that their supposed lives are poorly acted out in Fair City?
