Do you mean irish as in born in ireland or a plastic paddy.
I am 100% irish and we have never said to be sure.

Also can you please tell your countrymen who produce television programs to stop using stereotypes in regards to irish accents, we dont all speak with a butchered northern irish/ leprecaun accent, in fact many of the impersonated accents i have heard are so far from the real thing that if that person lived in ireland and walked around talking like that the would end up in a mental institute.

Here are some phrases a genuine irish person will never say.

"Top of the morning to you"... only fools and mental patients say this, nobody (living in ireland) has never said that to me, plus if you say that in public its a sure sign you are a tourist.....

"to be sure, to be sure".. never heard it used in polite or inpolite conversation. Do all black people in america say "yes master", no they dont, so what makes people think we say these words, its a form of racism.

No body uses parable phrases they are only there for tourists
