No. Dublin is the best county in Ireland. It has sea, mountains and city life, all just a bus ride apart. One of the best located cities in the world. And we love it! C'mon the Dubs! |

I am living in Dongal for over 20 years but I prefer Cork. More variety, more scenery, more beaches, more tourist attractions. You name it, it has more of everything. I would pick Cork anytime. I have lived there for 12 years. So I say up the rebels.
EDIT: xxxopxxx I am living in Stranorlar also. |

Donegal is lovely, and the people are lovely also - but it is very Catholic. Not for the Pagans among us.
But I did have a hilarious caveman-type experience in a town in Donegal. My husband and I were staying in one of the lesser-known towns on the Inishowen Peninsula, and we had just spent the day driving around. We were in a pub, husband ordered a pint of Guinness and I decided on a Bailey's on ice (I rarely drink so this was a one-off for me). Sitting near us was a local man, youngish, and kind of chubby, who could barely hide his disdain for my 'girlie' drink. I could see him tisking away to himself with contempt, and I was a bit amused. Anyway, I decided to go back to our B&B and watch some television, my husband ordered another pint and stayed there a while longer. He told me later that as soon as I had left, the man who had been eyeballing my 'girlie' drinking habits with such disdain turned to him and said: "She's gone, now we can REALLY talk." Couldn't help wondering what the story was there! But it was funny .... |
