Not another silly question about Dublin.

Does no one do Geography in school any more?

The answer is NO Dublin is not part of the UK. It is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland.

The UK is made up of England,Wales,Scotland and Northern Ireland.

kent_shakespear
From roughly 1800 to 1921, yes.

Since then, no.

It is considered a part of the Uk by some British Multi Nationals also Indian Based call centers have Difficulty as to were Dublin is . You can't blame them we do not know where Bangalore is either but the "should know better Brits" we are not as generous with their ignorance.

The only part of the Island of Ireland that is, for now a part of the Uk and costing them a lot of money to keep that way are ^ 0f the Islands 32 counties known as Northern Ireland. It is a dependency of the British

The remainder of Ireland, the Irish Republic is a free and even in these troubled time relatively more prosperous independent nation with a History that goes back at least 5000year, rather more provable than the country closes to us on the map to the Right who Lorded it over us as a people for too long,
A visit to Dublin would show you it was more like the Capital of the World than even the Capital of Ireland with its multi ethnic and cultural mix.

Why on earth would it be?

As one answer points out it was part of the Uk for nearly two hundred years. Since 921 it is considered part of Republic of Ireland . Until a referendum is held letting the people decide their future it will probably remain so. A few miles in Northern Ireland Belfast the capital cty is part of Uk. Recent referendums here confirm the majority wish.

scottie
I think you've touched a sore point.

i dont think so because its in ireland but not entirely sure
my friend wanted to go to uni there but was told she would have to go through a different application process as it isnt like a uk uni or something
