OMG - is this what the schools are teaching now??

Dublin is in the Republic of Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is not in the UK (as a lot of people in the UK and the world seem to think) and Ireland is country in its own right.

Believe it or not - I live in Ireland but am from the UK!! :-)

No, its on the EAST coast in the Republic of Ireland.

Last week someone living in Glasgow asked if Glasgow was in the UK, the mind just boggles.

minska89
No hun it isnt Dublin is the capitol of the Republic of Ireland.

LEONÉS
no, it is not.
it is in Republic of Ireland (Eire).

The Questioner
Dublin is the Capital of the Republic of Ireland. However, don't worry because you are in good company with bank managers, company directors, politicians, army generals, and many other people in all walks of life in the U.K. mainly from England, that I have met over the years. Some units of the british army who were stationed in the north of Ireland were found on patrol in the Republic during the past troubles. Please do not send them to patrol the borders between any part of Europe and Russia otherwise we could have W.W. 3 following an invasion of Russia. The Republic of Ireland is not Southern Ireland, as the most northerly county in Ireland Donegal is according to the U.K. government in the south of Ireland. The name for Ireland if you are speaking or writing in Irish is Eire, but if you are doing so in English then it is Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland. By the way on a visit to Wales some years ago I was asked by one of the guests in the hotel. a man that had served all over the world in the Royal Air Force, was there any Airports, Factories, Motorways, and Trains in Ireland. His second question was how did we get time off to go on a holiday because we were all farmers in Ireland. To make him very happy I told him that everything he said was correct, and in fact we kept pigs in the kitchen in our homes. Of course I also told him that we called them Sausages. So once again don't feel too upset about your question, just come over to Ireland and have great craic.

Here's a site where you can find out for yourself
http://www.ireland-map.co.uk/

Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland.

The area termed Northern Ireland is part of the U.K.
The Republic is not part ofthe U.K.
Donegal is in the north of Ireland but is part of the Republican north i.e. not all of the north of Ireland is U.K.
To further confuse you the province of Ulster contains both the 6 counties of British Northern Ireland and 3 further Irish Republican counties.Even in Ireland there are numpties who think Ulster is totally British.

Dublin is in the East of Ireland. Ireland is an island to the west of the United Kingdom, in Western Europe. Here is a link to a map of Ireland....http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/europe/ireland/

reginaldstower
no it is the republic of ireland

Ciara C
Its in the South, but rightly there should be no divide. Its one island and should be all one country

No, it's in the Republic of Ireland on the east coast. It's the capital. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. Two separate countries on the one island.

No, Dublin is the capital of Ireland (Repiblic)
Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland, which is not connected with Ireland or Dublin - but is a part of the United Kingdom

Its nearly but is just outside the British border so I understand your uncertainty. Perhaps with greater expansion it will be one day. As Incompet points out most southern Irelanders yearns to be British again.Sadly they are not allowed this freedom at present.

Purple Goat
It isn't but most of its people want to be back under British rule because of the corruption amongst local politicians in the Republic of Ireland.
