well ireland isn't officially in a recession, but i suppose we're nearly there. every other article in the newspaper talks about "the dreaded R-word", and economists haven't declared it officially either... i guess they just don't want to admit that we're going back to the eighties! there's lots of countries in a recession now too, whether its official or not!

No. If you read the news from virtually any country (or google it) you'll find the same increases and problems. We (and they) will learn to live with it.
