Is it OK to attend a church while visiting in Dublin Ireland? |
I would like to attend a church while in Dublin, but I don't know if its ok to do so? I don't really care what religion it is since it's just a one time visit. But I don't want to step on any toes so to speak. I'll be in the central part of Dublin, so IF it's ok, then what church would I go to in that area? Additional Details I dont want to go as a tourist...i would do that another day. |

All the churches will welcome you. City centre churches have many visitors all year round, so no, you won't step on any toes. There is a full list and you can choose whichever denomination appeals, at http://www.dublinchurches.com/churches/start.htm
Details include a google map to show you where it is. On the Search list, click Area: City Centre. There are 52 entries, of various denominations. You are bound to find several churches close to where you will be staying.

Some of our churches are tourist attractions and certainly welcome visitors. Here is a list of some which are in the city centre:
St Patricks Cathedral the largest church in Ireland Founded in 1030 by King Sitric . The writer and satirist Jonathan Swift was dean from 1713–45.
Christ Church Cathedral
The medieval crypt contains many historic artifacts like The Stocks, made in 1670 and some Medieval Carved Stones.
St. Michan's Church
Not very impressive from the outside but houses the organ on which Handel first performed the famous Messiah, and "Deep in its vaults lie a number of bodies that have barely decomposed because of the dry atmosphere created by the church's magnesian limestone walls. Their wooden caskets, however, have cracked open. Revealing the preserved bodies, complete with skin and strands of hair."
Shrine of St Valentine in Whitefriar Street Church
has a casket which contains the remains of Saint Valentinus the Martyr, together with a small vessel tinged with his blood.
St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral
"Since 1903, the Pro-Cathedral has been the home of The Palestrina Choir, an all-male choir of boy choristers and Gentlemen of the Choir." |

I would think they would be happy to have you visit. You might even make a few new friends even if it's only one time. If they have your own Church there go there. |

There wouldn't be a problem with it, I am sure. Just check the times the services start beforehand. |
