Is it a joke that Dublin city are telling us to shop in Dublin early to be patriotic.?

Like, why don't they get the £ to € ratio correct and I might shop in town, or put the prices down, instead of putting them up.
Maybe decrease parking fees, or taxi fares?
Instead of bullying us to shop local and be patriotic, or are you going to Newry anyway

To ask somebody to consider shopping in the city centre is not to bully you. How could they do that?. The rate for the £ v the € depends on international money markets. You talk about reducing parking fees or taxi fares, why not use the bus, or if you live near the Dart, or Luas. If you travel down to Newry how much will in cost you in fuel, exchange rates, a meal or two, and then see what you saved, if anything at all. A lot of things have been reduced in the shops in Dublin in the run up to Christmas this year. Remember, if you buy at home, it saves jobs, the government gets their taxes, and it reduces the risk of everybody paying more in tax to make up the loss to the exchequer.

its not to be patriotic, of course thats an excuse. its to get you to spend your hard earned duckets on over priced gifts for christmas.

i mean, they put the xmas lights up 3 weeks early to encouage people to shop more even tho theres a recession

In love with Football...x
Yeah i heard them say that on the radio and i was like wdf??!
Its way more expensive shopping in town ... hardly patriotic.. Costing us more money by putting on the lights early aswell.... im staying put in Newbridge :)

First I'm hearing of this .... If you don't like the exchange rates, don't shop in the Republic. You are free to spend your money anywhere you like!

I shop in Limerick, it's closer to me, and the parking is easier.

It doesn't make sense if I spend my money in another Country because I will be helping them with for instance employment but
help but my brothers and sisters out of employment so I shop in
Ireland and keep the jobs here.

Remember we are a small Country and island infact so if we our
shops can purchase in larger amounts from manufacturers then
our prices will come down.

Another way to bring the prices down is HAGGLE In a lot of
places they will discount items so haggle.

Keep the money in IReland for now until we get on our feet I
want my job here I don't want to have to go to the other end of
the world for a job. The recession is pretty much everywhere
so keep our cents here for all our sakes.

And HAGGLE nicely! you will be surprised!
