Depends on from where you are flying from in the U.S. Since I live on the East Coast (in PA) it's not expensive at all and we are there in 5.5 hrs. Just a little longer than it takes to fly to California. The last time we flew there it was only about $500.00 round trip - not bad at all.
The bed and breakfasts there average less than $50 American dollars a night - and they are LOVELY. We go quite often and it's VERY inexpensive and anyone here that says differently has not really gone there. Last time we went (per person) for a whole week it cost us less that $1000.00. I couldn't even go spend a week here in the U.S. for that price - anywhere. |

It depends who you fly with, where you stay ect
but with the dollar so weak to the euro and rising air costs, it may be quite expensive |

I haven't been to Ireland, but one thing I know makes a lot of international trips cheaper is to go during the off season if your travel dates are flexible.
In February, I flew to Amsterdam for $400 round trip, taxes and fees included. Sure, it was cold, lol, but I couldn't have afforded the summer rates. |

Very. Prices are high in Ireland - in all of Europe, actually - and the American dollar is low. So it's going to be even more costly than usual. Pity, becaue Ireland is such a wonderful country to visit. |

I stayed there for 8 days last month (peak season) and spent about $2000. This includes airfare, accommodations, meals, tours, souvenirs, eurail pass, etc. You can do it if you plan your budget ahead of time. It was well worth it to me; I loved it and am dying to go back. |

Not too bad, try the Springtime ( rates are lower) and check out this site

I suppose that "expensive" a relative term. From the east coast of the US to Ireland in the off season is pretty reasonable in my book, $350 to $500 RT.
And look into the B&B things (try budget travel dot com for deals).
Ireland is a great place to visit, and the off season is not real cold like it can be in some places. You can pretty much do everything in winter you could in summer. |

airline tickets are getting expensive these days but the real $$$ shocker is the sales tax in Ireland. a friend of mine went there a few years ago and said the taxes on everything should make americans shut up about their gas prices and sales taxes. Its a beautiful country but yes its expensive to get there and to travel there. |

my mom is from Ireland and she goes once a year, and she's not exactly rich, so it can't be too expensive. but it's definitely not cheap by the average person's standards. i think the air fare is around one thousand dollars. i think once she got it for $600 round trip, but it was booked well in advance. . i'd say you could stay a week for a $3500 , everything included, air fare, food, lodging, |

Depends. If you are from urban CA. the prices will not shock you. Do you drink, smoke, have expensive Dining tastes?, all these enter into the equasion. Ireland is riding on the crest of an economic expansion thatsees no end in sight. All costs are up, housing, food, clothes, and transportation. Bring Money, lots of it. |

That really depends on how dumb and gullible you are. If there is one thing at which the Irish have become expert over the last 200 years, it's separating Americans or any non-Irish visitor from their money, their baggage, and sometimes their clothes right down to the skin. |

Not really. The airfare will be the biggest ticket item. Stay on the western coast and you can have a good time and keep under budget. I rented a car in Shannon airport and stayed in B&B's in Cty Clare. |

it depends where you stay, what part of Ireland you visit, how long you stay for.
i doubt it would be very expensive. Probably an average price. |

Unless you have family or friends to stay with then it will be rather costly. I have family in Italy and I went for a week not including flight time and it was a bit costly for me. Do your homework before making the trip. |

Everything is expensive today: inflation.
But, you know, in this life one should do what is right and what makes them happy.

Yes. Very. With the American economy, the prices of everything is rising because the euro and the pound is stronger and hold more value than the USD. It would be expensive on it's own, but times are hard and prices are high. It would cost a pretty penny for a plane ticket and I'm assuming you aren't going by yourself, so that's $1,000 right there. Not to mention hotel stay and renting a car (or cab fare). So I'm thinking anywhere upwards of $1,800. If you don't think that's too high, then your fine. But if you're like most Americans, your going to have to scrape and save or just not go all together. |

Yes. The US dollar is still relively weak compared to the European currencies. Ireland is an overpriced and much overhyped destination. It is a toursit trap and way overpriced in the places where you will be taken. Unless you go there to visit somebody you know, I would call it off for now.
I would go to a much more fun and yet, cheaper destination such as Greece, Spain or Eastern Europe. In "cocoa beach" in Bulgaria you can live like a queen for a week on the money you spend for one day in Ireland.
In the end, however, it is your call because it only matters what this trip means to you and only you know what your financial situation is. |

ireland is so beautiful especially around places like the dingle peninsula.i wasn't very much into the whole big city places like dublin though.
the american dollar is very weak right now so if you do go i recommend you buy a lot of euros when its cheepest because they charge you a lot to take money out of and atm there.
also if you go use a credit card when ever you can, its always easier.
i went on a trip to the uk, ireland, scotland, and whales.
i'm sure your trip would be cheeper than mine if it was just ireland you were going to.
also if you go with a tour group you see a lot more and its cheeper.
i paid 3,700 for two weeks in europe lunch and breakfast, airfare, and a lot of events around the town. |

yes, most likely it will be. but trust me it is worth it! Ireland is beautiful! and if u are in Dublin go on the Wild Wicklow tour, and ask for the tour guide stephen (or steven) it is about 35 euros and it is a full day tour. the tour itself is wonderful and beautiful! the tour guides are really fun! Best tour i have ever been on in my life! |
