Is it safe to drink Dublin tap water?

I'm new to the country and apprehensive about drinking it since I don't know where it comes from.

hi you
if the clod water is coming right from the water service to the tap it is OK to drink if the cold water is coming from storage tanks this would not be safe to drink

It's alright to drink, but if you live in the Dublin 15 area, it's quite hard. Everywhere else is quite good.

Yes, it's fine.

I can understand how you feel, a lot of countries have non
drinking water only for washing etc. but the Dublin water is
fine. Cheers and I hope you have a good time while in our
town.

Yes, its all filtered before it gets to your taps..you can drink any water in your house : taps, shower, toilet (bit ew) but all the water is safe to drink except maybe in the west of ireland.

If you are not too sure then drink bottled, but the tap water would be fine for everything else.

Yeah. its 1 of the safed(?) to drink in the E.U. But u can stil boil it first if u lik.

Were were there for a week on vacation and never had an issue with the water.

That being said, I have a friend that travels a lot, and recommended you stay with bottled water. Reason being, even if the water is safe, there is a possibility your body may not be used to any local pollutants (how ever small) or difference in minerals, and could end up feeling ill.

If you have a very sensitive system, stick with bottled water, but only bottled water you are already drinking over here. Something you can get everywhere.

Yes, the water here is fine. If you don't fancy trying it you could always stand outside with a bottle or your mouth open. It's been raining so much here at the moment you're thirst would be quenched in no time!!!

At the moment it is safe, but you can never tell if it will continue to be safe . We have had a number of Scares in different parts of the Country mostly through Farm Animal Effluent getting into the Water. There was a minor Scare in Swords North County Dublin Recently for awhile, and Water had to be Boiled before use which lasted for a few Days. In Dublin and Throughout the Country it is Safe to Drink.

There was a very bad Problem in Galway City for about a Year, Criptosporithyium an Organism found in Farm Animal Waste Faecal matter caused very bad poisoning and some People had to be Hospitalised. The People had to Drink Bottle water.

In Dublin Water comes from mainly The Blessington Lakes and Poulaphouca in the Dublin Wicklow Mountains ,and The Liffey in Leixleip County Kildare.

We always had the Reputation of having very Pure Water in Ireland , but Latter Years there has been Fish Kills because of Intensivie Farming Methods and Leaching of Effluent especially when there is Torrential Rains. The Government Organisations are always trying to make sure this does not happen and check on Farmers to make sure they do not Pollute The Rivers and Groundwater.

The more Housing Estates and Businesses and Industry that gets built then the more Likelihood of Pollution Leaching into Waterways, the more they have to Upgrade the Sewerage Facilities.

Well when your in a new country it takes u a while to get used to that countrys tap water so consume small amounts at first. But if ur talking about safe as in safe for Irish people OF COURSE IT IS.Im quite offended you would think our tap water has something wrong with it.I drink it every day.it comes from Blessington resevoir near the wicklow mountains and actually it is probably healthier than other tap water because it is filtered through Limestone rock which is very high in calcium
