Yes due to the last ice age, when irelands land bidge was cut off by the rising sea, the climate does not favour snakes.

New zealand has no snakes either

No there are none, not grass snakes, not adders, nothing, except ones that excape from pet shops Im sure. We have little lizards and the like tho.

I believe that there are grass snakes and adders but nothing that could kill you if you have been bitten so nothing to worry about.
