Hi!
Dublin is just like any other City..Couple of days and you have the sights seen!
It is a beautiful city with lots to see, and you can definitely do t in couple of days.
The west of Ireland is so beautiful, so many fantastic things to see and do with a proper 'Irish' feeling to it! As Dublin city is now so 'europe-ised'
to get the proper Irish experience I do suggest you try and squeeze a few days in the West!
Enjoy!
I'd recommend Co.clare. |

You can see the city centre sights in a couple of days, I'd take the hop-on, hop-off bus for the first day to get your bearings. After this you can just use the city's public transport service. Don't forget to visit places like Bray and Howth, which are easy to get to on the DART line. You can walk up the mountains in Bray, it's lovely. You can also walk along the cliff path to Greystones, also lovely, and take the bus back to Bray. Also go for a walk on Dun Laoghaire pier.
Take day trips out of Dublin to see Newgrange, Powerscourt House and Gardens and Waterfall, and Glendalough. You could also visit the National Stud and Japanese Gardens in Kildare. Belfast is only a couple of hours away by train (from Connolly Station) and you could also take a train journey to any of the other cities in Ireland: Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford, Limerick, or Galway. Killarney can also be reached by train from Dublin Heuston. To get an idea of the times involved, have a look at www.irishrail.ie.
Also, look out for arts festivals, as there are often small ones on in various places, including Dublin. And of course there are the sports events, try to see some hurling if you can. |

The other answers here are more or less what I have to say as well. I am originally from limerick, I've been in Dublin around 8 years.
It depends on what you are into: If you are coming for drinking and chilling out for a week I don't think there's a better place than Dublin just for the sheer number of pubs in the city centre. Although 1-2 days will be plenty for this. One piece of advice stay away from Temple bar, the prices they are charging for beer is nothing short of extortionate and the place is full of the unfortunate tourists who went drinking early and stayed there for the night. Head into the bars along Dame street/Georges street/wexford st/Camden st and into the bars off Grafton street, still expensive but not as bad.
I would recommend heading West to Galway for a night that's another great party spot with all the college students that go to UCG and GIT. Galway is around 2 hours on the train and hostels/hotels are reasonable.
If you feel guilty about not getting scenery then head to the burren and to the cliffs of moher in county Clare (beside County Galway, around an hours drive I think!). The scenery there is amazing.
If you go to Kerry you should try and go by Connor pass for the scenery.
West Cork is fantastic for scenery.
Kilkenny is good craic. Plenty of bars, the restaurants aren't great though.
Hope I could be of help. To answer your question I think a full week is too long but you may not have time to visit many other places and still have a worthwhile holiday. if you were to go for Dublin and one other plcae try Galway+the burren+Cliffs of moher.
I hope I have been if some use.

There is plenty to do in Dublin, but as Ireland is such a small country, I'd recommend adding some day trips. You can take the train to several spots nearby such as Malahide or Howth, or you can spend a day or two to head west.
Get out and explore. Everyone above gave great answers and suggestions. Have a good trip! |

Once you see the Guinness factory, Trinity college and sampled the night life there is not much more to see (although I would recommend Kilmainen Jail, sure thats spelled wrong).
But if you dont mind the drive you are only a couple of hours up the motorway/dual carriageway to Belfast or you could get the train if you wanted to spend the day there or the rest of Ireland is on your doorstep. |
