Is "feck" a swear word?

No my husband is from Dublin and every thing is feck, this and feck, that and I keep saying to him stop swearing ,and he says its not swearing, when I was having chemo, The doctor at the hospital asked me what chemo did I want ,did I want tango, or fec., short names for the drugs I had to have .my daughter and I pissed our selfs laughing, the doctor thought we were nutters.until we explained the fec,.so my option was to have a fec. every three weeks.it made me get through my treatment.but the only thing was it was during the day and not the night.

No it feckin' well isn't.

chyllyphylly
It is not uncommon for school teachers and some members of the religious order to use the word 'feck' as an expletive in Ireland thus demonstrating the word's peculiarity in meaning to Ireland where it does not equate to the word '****' as many people outside Ireland tend to think.

So the answer is no

i feckin well hope so!

hazzard
the feck it is

stitcherkf
Actually to feck something originally was to steal it. It is only a mild swear word and really has nothing to do with the other f word at all!!

This word was used more years ago and has come back into popularity due to its use in Father Ted.

?
Motherfecker...

petshaven
so when I scream at my neighbor,Instead of screaming u Foooking get on my nerves, I should be saying fecking?

william a
Logically no. Based on the word feckless meaning "ineffective, incompetent, futile" to be feck means to be effective, competent and not futile." Obsolete of course.

Lucky Man.
It is the irish version of you know what.

feck is a posh way of saying the proper F word, my aunties use it all the time but to me there is no point in changing the pronunciation in one letter to make it sound any better, a swear word is a swear word so we might as well use it right

Father Ted seemed to have it in alot, so why the feck not, use it as a fecking replacement for fu*k, oh feck i wrote a fecking rude fecking word.

kathleen m
feck is a nice way of saying ****

quite frankly I couldn't give a flying feck!

Orla C
It's an Irish and therefore naturally more polite and cultured form of that nasty Anglo-Saxonism that has been banned from polite company.

Feck off anyone who doesn't agree with me!

;-)

AnteK
it's kind of a lesser abusive form of Fu** and is generally acceped.more used in the country than our poxy capital.

Erina♣Liszt's Girl

No it's not actually.
It really comes from the Irish word 'feic' which means 'to look at'

thebald1
yes it is, changing the word slightly does not change the meaning of the word,
