I don't personally know anyone with this name.
The only person I have heard of with that name as someone else said, was Paul Daniels, the magician, and he was English.

No, it sounds English to me. There is or was an English magician named Paul Daniels ....

Yes it is common in Ireland. We have a well know country and western singer by that name. Roly Daniels. Not sure if it is originally Irish though.

Yeah it's pretty Irish!

Domhnall DONALD , O'Donnell are Irish (Gaelic) form of DANIEL ( as in the Bible)
I rather suspect that some "Daniels" Might be an English translation. In 1837 the Occupying ruling English composed a kind if Ireland "Doomsday" book for valuation of properties for taxation etc The Gaelic townland and City names were "Anglefied" as were Gaelic Sir names etc, so John Bull
could get his Sasanach tongue around them Most "translations " are farcical!

The daniels were traitors. They were originally from Derry in Ulster before it was found out that they had been feeding information to the British army about secret IRA(THE good IRA)Not the bad guys.proceedings.
