john2u

Is there a difference between a irish mile and a english mile.?

Show all answers

Little Green Alien
Irish mile = 2 240 yards

English mile = 1760 yards

(yard = 3 feet)

ie a Irish mile is much longer!

The "Irish Mile" measure is rarely used now but can still be found referenced in the old 6" OS Maps

Yes, an Irish mile seems shorter due to the scenery and the lovely people you meet on your way!!
