Legal drinking age in ireland?

In the end of june into july i will be going to ireland. The first day there i will be going to the guinness brewery. I read that the give complimentary pints away for free if you take the tour. I am 17 and i am confused about the legal drinking age. Some places they say its 18 and others 17. Some also say you can drink at 17 if you have food or something of the sort, if anyone can let me know thanks.

You might get away with it but officially The Legal age is 18.
You will need ID and in some places you must be 21 to get into some bars, clubs etc.

= )

Pushing The Senses!
it's leglly 18
but beleive me, very few people take any notice in that, if your 17 you should have no problem with getting drink especially if you have a parent wih you

you have to be 18 to drink here, but you could get away with it if you look 18 or older. That is only in pubs however. In clubs you will need ID to even enter the building. I know a lot of people who get fake ID's, if you can get a fake one handy enough then do, if you cant you can at least try your luck and see if you can get in without one.

It's 18 but I did the guinness tour & they're not strict about who gets the free pint, once u don't look 12!

It's 18 but they may let you taste a small amount in the brewery if your parents are there, if you look old enough though there shouldn't be any problem getting alcohol at all.

no it's 18 to drink legally here in ireland,i got away with it when i was 16 and there with my parents.

elsewhere you can drink if you're 13 or over outside the pub in a beer garden if your parents consent to it!<<<that's a little known fact to most of us irish people, but a barman told me that in killarney

its 18

but if you look younger than 25 you get ID

you can get into some bars, without being IDed, in the republic of Ireland however there really Good at spotting a fake ID.
i live in northern Ireland and you can pretty much get in anywhere from the age 16 up.

its 18 with or without food ... A lot of places are over 21 - 23 though! you should get asked for ID - but that doesnt always happen...

txt
18 up north and 21 down south
