now that theres a new motorway you can do it in about an hour!! sometimes an hour and a half, depending on time of day and traffic!

To drive from Shannon to Oranmore takes just over an hour depending on the time of day that you travel, it may take longer at peak times. From Dublin to Shannon takes over three hours, again depending of the time of day you set out from Dublin city. The traffic in Dublin can be very congested at peak hours (8 to 10pm and from 3 to 7 pm) and you could add at least another hour to your journey at peak times.
Check the routes and times at the AA route-planner site below

Dublin city centre to Shannon: factor in 5 hours, especially if you're going to hit Limerick between 9 am and 10 am. There's no way of avoiding the city centre as the tunnel hasn't been built yet. I'd advise coming down the night before and staying somewhere between Limerick and the airport, lots of B&Bs along the way, especially near Bunratty.

Drive to Oranmore: Take it handy, it's about 2 hours or maybe a bit less. Very twisty roads though.
