Limited time in Ireland? Is it worth it to stop in Waterford?

I am going to be in Ireland in March and mainly want to see Kilkenny, Cobh, Killarney, Dingle, Cliffs of Moher, etc. I will be starting my driving from Dublin heading south to Kilkenny....if you had a short amount of time in Ireland, would you stop in Waterford??
Thanks for any info!

I live in waterford and recently our shopping in the city centre has really gone downhill-a lot of shops have been closed down, these are shops that i like, they may not be to your taste! There is 2 big shopping centres being built on the outskirts of the city, not sure when they are going to be opened though!

There is lots to see and do in waterford, but if you are going to be in Dublin for long, Dundrum shopping centre is my favorite place to shop! Cork city centre is great too!!

enjoy your trip xxx

That's a good idea.

Yes - Waterford has many things to offer.
1) The Waterford Crystal Gallery & Factory Tour - http://www.waterford.com
2) An Amazing Cathedral - http://www.waterford-cathedral.com/
3) Great Coastal areas such as Dunmore East
4) A lovely city, one of Irelands oldest (make sure to visit Reginalds Tower and the Grannary Historical Museum)
Have a look at http://www.shanemcdonald.org/picture_15-Misc._Ireland.html which has some Waterford & Kilkenny photos (you can type Waterford into the box to see all Waterford items)
5) Nice Mountains on the way to Cork.

Enjoy your time in the South-East.

Hi,

I am from Kilkenny and i love living here. Im not entirely sure what there is to attract tourists to waterford.. off course it depends on the time of year that you are there but as already stated it is mainly famous for its crystal..Shopping wise i have to agree with the above answerer.. it used to be great for shopping and i used to find great bargains there but the last two trips i made there were somewhat disappointing and i didnt go back since.. There are a lot of students in waterford as a large college is situated there and a lot of the entertainment available is geared towards them.. I wouldnt give it a yes but also wouldnt knock it of the list completely.. if you have a bit of spare time why not?

Enjoy your trip to ireland

If you are in the market for crystal then yes but just to see
Waterford no you would be dissapointed
