Shure it is grand if you are not paying for accommodation. That can be dear, but shure you are staying with a friend. There is a lot of good colleges like C.I.T or U.C.C. I hear C.I.T is more friendly do. Clothes are cheap like T.K Max is great and there seems to be loads of clothes sales sense the Ression. Food is dear so shop in Lidl and Aldi. Be careful when out. It can be a bit rough but most places like that. There is great Opera House and Everyman if you like plays. Load nice places to eat, some are cheap during the day lunch menus. Cork people are nice I think but you will come across the odd scumbag.
Good Luck.

The education system is highly regarded in Ireland in general. Cork is a small city built on a bog and is at sea level. The Northside of the city was built up the glensides and the South side was built on the valley floor. The social scene is great with a wide variety of pubs restaurants hotels etc. the scenery is great and the craic is always good.
Sports are big in Cork as we have a Premier soccer team , a hurling team, a gaelic football team, a basketball team and much more. There are lots of courses in the colleges and you will find an eclectic mix at these. I wish you well in De Rebel County............edit............Richar... k ..............I find your remark rude and offensive and I lived in The UK for most of my life and I met a lot of your kind in my time there and I thought that I was extremely grateful that your kind were the minority. You bring a bad sour taste to the RAF, of which you are stating to be a member. You lower the tone of it.

crazygirl summed it up pretty well.
It's better than Dublin and it's more like a big town than a small city.

Don't mind Richard K, he knows nothing about Ireland or Irish people.

Cork is lovely, but because of the long process of accepting students according to academic results in the school leaving exams, you won't be able to go to college this year - but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look into other courses, like short-term one-year things, there are plenty of those around.

However, if you want to do college properly in Ireland, you need to go to the Central Applications Office (www.cao.ie) and ask them how to go about it.

If you are not an EU national, you will have to pay quite a lot in fees for college, far more than if you were an EU national.

I moved to Cork nearly 10 years ago. I love it so much, I've set up a home a business and had a family here.
UCC is a great college and I'm sure you'll enjoy the social side of it too.
