I should be doing something else
The island has a population of over 6 million people, we have 4 provinces, Ulster, Munster, Connacht and Leinster, and 36 counties.
Ireland is the 5th Richest country in the world, GDP per capita.

Some fun stuff:

Celtic group the Pogues were originally called "Pogue Mahone," (Irish spelling PĂłg mo thĂłn) which translates into "kiss my a**" in Gaelic.

According to some historians, over 40% of all American presidents had some Irish ancestry.

Bram Stoker was working as a civil servant in Dublin when he wrote “Dracula” in 1897.

Dublin was originally called "Dubh Linn," which means "Black Pool." The name refers to an ancient treacle lake in the city, which is now part of the penguins enclosure at Dublin Zoo.

In 1800, the population of Ireland was almost twice as large as that of the United States. By 2000, America’s population was about 60 times that of Ireland

Ireland’s 15 principal railway stations are named after the leaders of the 1916 uprising.

An “An Fáinne” is a lapel pin, worn by some fluent Irish speakers to invite others to speak to them in the traditional language.

Louth is the smallest county in Ireland; Cork is the largest.

About 30% of the people in Australia are of Irish descent.

The Irish tricolor flag, created in 1848, was designed to reflect the country's political realities. Orange stands for Irish Protestants, green for Irish Catholics and the white stripe for the hope that peace might eventually be reached between them.

If you can think of anything in particular that you would like to know feel free to ask =]

I am living in Ireland and I go to Florida every year on my holidays and they are like 2 different worlds.
Weather is the big difference first of all. You will freeze your *** off over here.
Although people say we are a very friendly country I think that ye Americans are extremly friends when I go over there, in shops, restaurants etc.
You will have a great time over here cause the scenery is something else. Have fun

I'm not from ireland but here are things I know:
Lots of people still speak Gaelic.
People are really sweet and open towards strangers
The nature there is totally mindblowing, I've seen the most idylic landscapes ever there
But I'm not from there so it doesn't really count.

You may need to get away from Florida in November. There is no better place to start than the North-West of Ireland. Derry and Donegal are havens of rest and they love the American People. We have a lot of American History tied up with the US Navy & Personnel. The Beechill Hotel was used during WW2 and has pictures of all ranks. It would take too long to lay out the fine tapestry of events. Best to come and bring your recording aparatus and cameras.

Guaranteed Irish!!!

Of course, what do you want to know? There is quite a bit of difference between Ireland and Florida in my experience (although I have only been to Orlando)

It's colder than you're used to in Ireland. It's also a lot greener. Fewer houses. Much more overcast, grey skies are not uncommon.
