Moing overseas to Ireland for my job, with my vehicle. Any suggestions for a car I could take to Europe?

Additional Details
The cost of shipping my vehicle will be covered by my employer, so not a concern. Also, I have seen nothing that says I must convert the car I take to a right-side driver. Size and fuel economy are my obvious concerns.

Don't ship your car, it will just be a huge hassle. Much better to buy a new one over there, even a used one. I am sure your employer would cover some of the costs. The steering wheel will be on the wrong side, your car might be too big which can become a problem as it won't fit thru many lanes and gates, etc...Gas/petrol is more expensive in Ireland, so a small fuel efficient car would be a much better choice.

Where are you coming from? Cars in Ireland don't drive on the same side of the road as cars in North America. It's going to be costly to take your car over - think about buying one that you don't have to worry about converting.

Check if the model is also sold there. Otherwise the shipping costs for spare parts are very high and you are a long time without a car.

Yo don't have to convert your car, but surely it would be cheaper to sell your car in your own country, and buy one in Ireland when you arrive? There are great deals out there at the moment, particularly in cars you can run economically. Plus those big petrol guzzlers are ecologically every unsound.

Buy a used one here...the economic turmoil at the moment means car dealers are begging you to take great used cars off their hands at good prices.
