My family is taking a missions trip to Ireland we will have a 4 hr. layover in Paris, can we go sight seeing?

We have a 4 hour layover in Paris on the way to Ireland, and a 2 hour layover in London on our way home. We would like to go see the Eiffel tower on the way and see the Palace on our 2 hour layover (if that would be enough time). We have never traveled abroad before and do not know if this would be feesible. Can you help?

I should be doing something else
Bearing in mind you have to check in at least an hour before your flight is scheduled means that you will only actually have three hours maximum to spare in Paris, as someone said above, CDG airport and the Eiffel tower are over an hour away from each other so at the most you could drive there, take a quick photo and jump on the coach back, it's not really worth it - You are better staying in or as close to the airport.

On the return journey - forget it, with check in times you only have one hour to spare - You don't say what London airport you are in, but for example, Standted, while listed as a London airport, is not actually in London, it is in Essex, and it is well lover an hour away from London.

Unfortunately you will just have to bring a good book and stick it out in the airport - We have all been there :)

With security lines these days I would NOT advise leaving the airport at all. I would go directly to your next plane port.

TECHU
No, 4 hrs is not enough time for sight seeing. If i were you i would just get something to eat at the airport and maybe buy something from the giftshop.

There might be time in Paris, but barely. One way from Charles de Gaulle to Eiffel Tower is roughly one hour. (see a previous yahoo answer, link below.) You'll need at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours including sightseeing. It won't be relaxing or fun, because you'll always have the flight on your mind.

Then when you get back to the airport you have to go through security again, which will take an undeterminable amount of time, and by then you'd be so stressed and worried that you might miss your trip to Great Britain.

Besides, depending on where you're from, you might need a visa from Schengen to leave the airport.

By the time you'd get into paris it would take roughly an hour, factor in another hr back plus the eiffel tower has the longest queue as well. Last time i queued 3hrs to see it. So in order to have a stress free layover i wouldnt bother.

Why on earth is there a missions trip to Ireland?

no you wont have time, better off staying in the airport so you dont miss your flight

Orla C
No, not really. Not if you've just 4 hours.

Not if you want to be on your flight. Security takes forever and you won't have enough time to get somewhere and then get back in time for departure. You will need to stay in the airport.

It is a horrible waste of time, but that is how it is. Bring a book. You have my sympathy, I have dealt with the same thing.

lets do it
you'll be lucky to see anything more time travelling rather than seeing lol
the air ports are to far from any of these places

i can't say for paris
but all london air ports are not really in london
gatwick is in surrey an hour from london suberbs
stansted is in essex half hour from a london suberb
and heathrow is in kent yet another half hour from a london suberb

remember suberbs are the begining of any city and all cities are made up of lots of towns hence the name suberbs

remember it takes an hour to get out of a london airport
best hit the air port shops instead
