Grand Diva

My husband and I are buying a house in Ireland and we need to give the house a name, any suggestions please?

We've lived in Surrey, England for 32 years and we're leaving our family and friends to take early retirement and live in our dream home in the beautiful Irish countryside. The house is on a hill, overlooking a lake. The house needs a name, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Teach Athais, that Irish for 'Happy House'

Teach = House
Athais = Happy

lake is Loch, so if you want to call it the lake house its teach loch

or Teach na nOg, which is after Tir na nOg, (land of the young, I think thats the direct translations, but i will stand corrected, its an old Irish legend, thing is its very popular so there could be a few others with the same name)

Sorry, I should tell you how to pronounce that

teach is chak
athas is awhis

Radharc an locha
(View of the lake) <----as direct a translation as possible.
Phonetically pronounced Rye-arc- aan - Luck-a.

Please give your house an irish name

Edit
I have seen both versions used, it makes no difference, Its a place name and variations occur from place to place. I have seen radharc an locha and radharc na locha, I never said it was gospel. There is a place called radharc an locha in leitirmoir(sorry i have not included a fada, there, should be LeitirmĂłir). No wonder the irish language is dying on its ****, when you discourage people so much. I agree and will say that the Na is also used.
Baile atha an ri, is "town of the ford of the kings", why is it not baile atha na ri ?

Maybe something like Radharc (pronounced rye-erk, roughly, translates as 'view'). Otherwise I agree with sarah n, and would go for Manderlay.

Edit: deburca's answer: View of the Lake would not be Radharc an locha, but rather Radharc na Locha. The first is incorrect, so make sure you get an accurate translation if you do decide to go for an Irish name.

Edit: Okay, point taken - I'll admit I was incorrect. But I'm not trying to discourage anybody, this couple may not even want an Irish name. Apologies!
