My sister is spending the year in Ireland. What is the cheapest way to call her?
you can talk for free on Skype. Just buy a headset for you computer - you can chat or talk via the internet.

Cheapest way is celtictel. Go to celtictel.com & buy a phone card. It works out to $3.12 an hour. It’s prepaid so not like you are ever going to get a horrible surprise in a phone bill. You can use the pin codes from your phone in work, home phone, cell phone etc. It’s very handy because you don’t have to wait until you are by a computer like some of the internet ways to call or at your home phone with a long distance plan. You can use from any phone at all, even from a friends phone as you are calling a free phone number to access. It is the most uncomplicated cheapest way to call, all the people I know from Ireland in the US have ended up using it after trying everything else. You can use the same pin number from the US & Ireland too, just use a different access number (all instructions come in the email when you purchase). You can recharge the pin number you are given so you don’t need to get a new one all the time. They have it where you can set up your phone to automatically remember the pin code so you do not have to enter every time you call.
Really is the best way of all to call Ireland, I have tried so many different ways & options but it is always the best!

If you both have internet access and microphones, you can use Yahoo (through their messenger) to call for free. You can even leave voicemails for people if they're not online when you call. I used to do this all the time.
If you want to call using a calling card, phone shark has the best of rates.

You don't say where you will be calling from. Anyway, I'm in Canada and I have business associates in Ireland so we use Skype to talk to each other. It's free - can't get much cheaper than that.

I would suggest you to use Skype for international calls. They are cheap.

You can purchase a phone card. It's like a gift card where you purchase a certain amount and you'll get a certain amount of minutes.
