My wife is going to Dublin on saturday for her sisters hen night and she wants to know what is Dublin like?

I went to Temple Bar in Dublin for my hen night. Its brilliant. Its a long street full of bars and its always absolutely heaving there. She'll have a great night.

It's a great place to go if you want to score with a woman on a hen night. The ladies get fierce frisky when they're out together.
Rodge and myself always follow the trail of women on the hen parties and we haven't failed to score yet.......

To the shockin number of people asking which Dublin I hope your trying (and failing) to be funny! Look at what section your in!

Dublin's a nice relatively small city. There's a good night life but it's very expensive and, like all cities can be dangerous if your on your own late at night (personally it's not a city I feel safe in). That being said if it's a hen night they probably won't stray from the center, which is well patrolled by the Gardi.

I'm not a fan of Temple bar but given the number of over priced themed clubs it's probably well suited for such an occasion.

As some of the above posted have mentioned bring lots of euro, as you'll need it. If your hotel is far from the center it might be worth checking out if there's a night-bus which will take you home because taxis can be a bit impossible to find.

I'm not a fan of Dublin at night, unless it's for concerts or gigs so I can't really advise in that regard but if you've any time in the day I'd highly recommend checking out the Hugh Lane gallery which is brilliant, Stephens Green is nice relaxing park, Boutique shops can be found on Grafton Street and Abby and Henry street have most of the High street shops.
St James Gate Brewery is supposedly well worth a visit (but I've never been) And finally Trinity College is beautiful.

I'm sure I've missed out loads but Dublin has a lot going for it. Great city.

but she'll like dublin,espcially anywhere on the south of the liffey in the city is nice

Dublin City Centre on the weekend is full of hen nights, especially Temple Bar.

Hopefully the weather this weekend will be nice but tell her to be prepared to have bad weather. If she is going to temple bar.....remind her that it is covered in cobble stones and that taxis are few and far between at the weekend ( unless you head home at 2).

There are many clubs that stay open late in town so it probably wont be that much of an early night.

Tips: Extra cash for a late night, a spare set of flat shoes for the walk home or walk to find a taxi, be prepared to spend 6 euro of a pint in some night clubs or pubs.

Any "hen-night" is a cackling parade of drunken bints getting a skin-ful whilst hoping to de-bag a male-stripper. Dublin being a city, and all cities being like this on a weekend night-time, it will be as depressingly vomitous as if it were Aldershot, Basingstoke, Camberly, Durham, Exeter, Farnham, Goldaming, etc (continues up the alphabet to Ashby de la Zouche).

i live in ireland so i should know ireland is lovely and beautiful but if your lookin 4 fields and meadows and pots of gold you should go to kinsale in cork where they're very tourist freindly. hope this helped

Dublin is a pretty little city, very friendly and a great place for a hen-night - just enjoy the craic! Weather will be similar to England, prices pretty similar too - maybe a bit more expensive. There are no hills, it is basically flat.

Firstly congratulations! You, well the hens picked the best weekend ever to come to Dublin BECAUSE the Electric Picnic festival is on in Co. Laois, similar to your V festival, it means Dublin will be relatively empty as thousands will flock down there for the fest. so the city centre will be very nice! Yes yes it's expensive but tell her & the girls to buy in some bottles of booze and drink them prior to goin out in their hotel rooms, normal practice here as in the city it costs about 8 euro for a vodka & coke or bacardi & coke etc. not to mention entrance fees into late bars or clubs after midnight.Scary Eastern European Bouncers seem to have a will or price tag of their own choice when it comes to 12 o'clock! Beer/cider is cheaper but still dearer than the UK. They should have a blast once they decide where they're going, tell them to have a look at www.entertainment.ie to find the best places to go. If they want to go to one place and stay all night, break for the border caters on 3 floors for food, a live band and then late disco til 2/2.30 if they are not OBVIOUSLY hens, they can get into late bars which stay open until 2.30 or 3, namely the Viper rooms, the capitol bar & 1 I cant remember the name of right now sorry but it's near Eamonn Dorans I believe. Aha it's Papa Joes I think. All of these places mentioned are in or near Temple Bar. For a rare experience, look up Quay 16, a boat on the liffey which is a restaurant, decent enough! Also, if they are tempted by "Clubs" warn them that Leeson Strret Clubs will cost an arm & a Leg to get in IF they get by the queues and bouncers and then all they serve is Wine which costs even more and these places are usually packed to the rafters with young new rich kids who will give you a pain in your Cockadoodle doo........so other choices are up Georges Street, The "George" is a massive gay cabaret bar with camp entertainment and bingo and the likes Great laugh! and straight on to Wexford Street and Camden Street for alternative music venues, Copper Face Jacks is a well known disco/club full of wasted on alcohol 20 somethings (it is meant to be the haunt of cops and nurses but this is a myth!) it's a massive pick up joint and you are garanteed to come out of it with either A) Claustraphobia and definately B) large amounts of drink spilled all over you. The floors are so wet with booze I dunno how it has'nt been shut down! They pack it out like you would'nt believe.
There's nice but some what expensive bars if they go before 10 or 11 to have a few lounge drinks but wont be let in if they are wearing mad t-shirts saying "Bride" or "Chief Bridesmaid" etc. NAFF and pink hats etc.These bars are in and around Excheqer Street/Georges Street They are Sosumi, 4 Dame Lane, the Globe, Rush bar. If they want a drink in an emporium style bar tell them to go to Dawson Street they will find Ron Blacks, Samsara and Cafe En Seine, Reeeeeeeeally expensive but well worth a look. If they want Irish happening now, go to The Long Stone, Bruxells, Eamonn Dorans, the Temple Bar, Whelans, The Village, Old World: O'Sheas Merchant and the Brazen Head (the oldest hostlery in Dublin) All of these places are SOUTH of the river liffey, some decent bars on the Northside (for starters include Panama for a few, Zanzibar Huge place, and the Arlington Hotel which displays Riverdance style dancing twice an evening, it's right beside O'Connel Bridge so they could time this to be in there for the Riverdance bit, then leave! Under the Arlington is a huge dance club, god for hens I'd say..though not 100% sure. Hope I've given you what you were looking for. Tell the girls they will be grand!!

Dublin Ireland...is a great city...just like any other in many senses. It is now multi cultural...just like London or Paris...Plenty to do and see. Shopping, the sights....museams, restaurants, loads of pubs,great nightlife, friendly people, its busy....She will really like it.!!

There are two real pests ^^^^^ called Podge and Rodge who pester all the hen night ladies but they're more to be pitied than scolded so I wouldn't worry.
Dublin is buzzing,good craic,great pubs,plenty of sing songs and good grub but it is dear.Weather's starting to cool down a bit this week too I notice so she should come prepared.
It's not a huge city so it still has a homely friendly feel to it and the natives are very helpful.Sure.we'll look after her for you,don't worry.:)

Dublin is ok. Its big (for Ireland), expensive, and full of people on hen nights at the weekend. Everything closes at 2 am in Ireland so it won't really be a late night. Hope she has fun!
