They check your passport and boarding card before you enter the security area (security check) and then again when you are at the gate (airline check).

TwoBigOneGrowing
Yes, Passport and Boarding card is inspected prior to entering "Airside " for the departure Gates and before Security.
Passports are rechecked prior to actually boarding as well.
If you are intending to go to Spain or Us you also have to submit lots more information to gain preclearance before boarding.

The Questioner
You have to show your passport when checking in for your flight, and at security and boarding your flight.

Viva La Eire!
I flew from Dublin to Prague not too Long ago.

In check in they will check your passport, then you go through the detectors and into the duty free shopping area, to your gate where they will check your passport again and look at your tickets.

Paul M
There are no Immigration exit controls. However a valid passport is required to check-in for any International flight because all Air carriers are required to verify that you may legally enter your destination country and that you have the required documents to do so.

A passport is also used by your Airline and security personel to confirm your identity. However most Government issued photo IDs. may be presented for this purpose.
