Palin said she went Ireland, Does a refueling stop count? ?

She never went INTO Iraq and she went to Canada & Mexico on vacation only,, Why do they just keep lying?

No. Then again - aren't you happier she stayed on the plane ? Republicans (US) have an odd grasp of "truth". If you back them into a corner with facts - they'll start talking about their buddy, God.

Palin says a LOT of things...most of them don't hold up to even minor scrutiny...or even make sense. I personally find it hard to even look at the woman. She is governor of one of the most underpopulated states and has no experience for the VP position....they chose her because of her lock-step religious views and the fact that she happens to be female.

Given the last two elections and the voting fraud scandals in each- maybe they have no reason to worry about the truth. Personally, I am just hoping my vote actually gets counted.

Sher didn't Boris Yeltsin come here as well? And the only refuelling he did was with the vodka on the plane!

NO... and only a really STUPID and GULLIBLE born again would believe it. I have been in OVER 100 COUNTRIES... and I can PROVE IT because I have the VISAS stamped on my PASSPORTS... and THAT is what it takes to BE IN A COUNTRY... If I was to count the countries I have been in, where the plane just touched down to let off passengers or take on fuel... I could claim to have been in almost 300 COUNTRIES... so her claims are BULL SH*T and only a born again Republican would be dumb enough to believe her.

This is just MORE of the same old LIES and SPIN and TWISTING THE TRUTH that the REPUBLICANS are so GOOD AT DOING... they don't WORRY about the TRUTH because they know the average AmeriKan is TOO STUPID to know the difference.

Obviously her own people were a little embarrassed at the fact she'd only been to Kuwait so they felt the need to beef up her credibility with a few lies.An astute Irish woman spotted the lies and got a retraction. Not a good start,eh?

No, a stopover in Shannon doesn't count, a couple of hours standing in a lounge waiting for your plane is not a visit to another country

I'll just wait at the airport with a gun, take that knob out.

no re-fuelling doesn't constitute visiting a country
to be in the country officially anyway i think you have to go through customs

If that bloody psycho came over here she'd have left in a body bag.

Obviously, a refueling stop is hardly a a visit to a foreign country, and Palin's campaign knows that as well as you and I do.

They keep lying (to answer the second half of your question) because they can't seem to stop themselves, and most frighteningly of all, because it works! They are on a roll of using words not to convey the truth, but to prevaricate, over and over again, with people believing them, or making excuses for their lies. Anything, from their little, ridiculous fibs (like the one above) to big, black, hurtful, in-your-face lies (Bridge to Nowhere) somehow seem to sit well with way too many voters, the same voters who went berserk when Clinton lied about a dalliance, not even a consumated affair that had zilch to do with his ability to govern.

I suppose these voters want to be 'protected' from hard truths and feel they can count on these cynics to shield them. Global warming? Nothing to get excited over. Danger of annhihilation by nuclear weapons? Naaah, we'll get them first. Poverty on the rise? Get off your lazy butts; there are jobs out there!
Yeah, sure.

A stop over in Shannon doesn't count as a visit to Ireland,
but is long enough to pick up the basics.
I'm sure she'll not be back in a hurry.
The smell and the attitude in Shannon is enough to put anyone off.

Governor Palin didn't say she has been to Ireland, someone who works on her campaign said that. No one has said she went to Iraq, a campaign worker said she went to Kuwait. And a refueling stop does count as having been there in my book. But it is like the other poster said this a minor thing compared to being known around the world as a plagiarist, or a drug dealer.
