Phoenix Park is situated on the northwest side of Dublin about 15 minutes from the City Centre. It was at one time the largest enclosed estate in europe. It has two mansions one of which are is the official residence of the Head of State Her Excellency President Mary Mc Aleese and the other, the official residence of the United States Ambassador to Ireland. It covers approximately 1750 acres. There are sports grounds for Gaelic sports like Gaelic football and hurling. The Dublin Zoological Gardens are also situated within its confines. The world renowned Guinness brewing dynasty some years back sold a property they owned named Farmleigh House to the government which was initially used for offficial functions of State but it is now mainly in public use because of its magnificent private garden. There are fallow and Sikha deer in its extensive woodland. There are a number of famous monuments probably the best known of these is the Welington monument named after the Duke of Wellington in honour of his participaton in the battle of Waterloo. Carparking is permitted so long as you stay off the grass. There are open-top double-deck busses available to take you sightseeing on the hour through the Park. The Park is also the headquarters of the state police or An Garda Siochana.

To add to previous answers Bus from City centre, Luas (Tram Service) to Heuston Station

Europe's largest urban park - five times the size of London's Hyde Park, double the size of New York's Central Park, 707 hectares in all. The extensie grounds are frequented by walkers, families on an outing, joggers, skaters and cyclists - on summer weekends room on the paved ways may be scarce. Train, Bus or Luas

Main Attractions in the Phoenix Park:

* Aras an Uachtaráin
- the residence of the Irish president, open for visitors on weekends;
* Ashtown Castle and Phoenix Park Visitor Centre
- a medieval tower house and an informative display on the Phoenix Park's history;
* Dublin Zoo
- host to all creatures great and small, from apes to zebras;
* Farmleigh House
- dubbed "the most expensive B&B in Ireland", the official guesthouse of the Republic;
* Magazine Fort
- a still imposing military installation where the first action of the Easter Rising took place;
* Papal Cross
- a massive steel cross erected to facilitate Pope John Paul II saying mass to millions;
* Peoples Garden
- a landscaped pleasure garden;
* Phoenix Monument
- a monument topped by a Phoenix;
* Sports Grounds
- offering glimpses of cricket and polo players;
* Wellington Monument
- one of the first monuments to the victor of Waterloo, born in Dublin.

Pheonix park contains Dublin Zoo and huge areas of parkland. Our President also resides there. It has a huge Cross in the centre that was the focul point of the papel visit some years ago.

Phoenix Park (in Irish, Páirc an Fhionn-Uisce) is a large park located 3 km to the north west of Dublin city centre in Ireland. It measures 712 hectares (1752 acres), with a walled circumference of 16 km that contains large areas of grassland and tree-lined avenues. The park is home to a herd of wild Fallow deer. The name is a corruption of the Irish fionn uisce meaning "clear water".

you should really check the internet for these things dude not go aasking them on some random question website were people put stupid answers.
