Ha ha! A question to vent my frustration!!! Thank you!

I think it is a joke. Its a horrible plague to rid the nation of their money. I am on my 2nd provisional license and I drive 20 miles in and 20 miles out to and from Limerick City for work, 5 days a week. This can cost me my job. There is no bus transportation where I am. It will be hard to enforce. Every single car in Ireland? I want to take down my L plates...I am so mad but there is nothing else I can do. Now I heard that the gardai can do as they wish at their own discretion. But I think that they will be targeting young men in their late teens but everyday-ordinary-life people just trying to earn a living will be let off for a few months.
I applied for my driving test last night.
I love being an L driver...my insurance is not too bad, cars keep their distance from me and I have more chance of being waved on at a busy roundabout because people take pity on me when the L's are up.
I have never committed a road offense in the 3 years I have been driving.
I am hurt deeply by our government.

Katie Anne
I just past my test a few mths ago(thank god) and i think the whole thing is a joke!!

It s totally unreasonable to expect "L" drivers to have a fully licenced driver with them at all times!! How are u supposed to learn if u cant get out on the road!!!

Again, people you had your chance to get rid of fainna failure in the last election, if you voted for them then you cant complain,I did not vote for them my conscience is clear.
They gave themselves a nice payrise and shafted all the l drivers in the country on the same day, typicall ff.
Next election dont votr FF as this is what you get

Hey There, I hope it doesnt come into effect until at least 2years(ha ha) I bought a BMW 316i COUPE AUTO for my first car and if this does happen I am going to cry.

Its a crock of s**t is what it is.
Friends have quit jobs, others have been laid off because of these laws you can't drive you can't work. how about going to doctors or a appointment at hospital. and don't mention public transport the joke of the country. Its obvious the politicians who though of this rubbish are city people they should try living in the countryside with no transport. gave themselves €16million pay bonus as well didn't they

420,000ish *€38 = €16 Million in application fees alone. Another €10 million in license fees as well.

You cannot apply for driving test for 6 months and driving test will take average of 9 months to be approved. so 15 months requiring a driver.

You must have an accompanying driver with 2 years full driving license.
Motorcyclists are screwed as not allowed to carry passengers so no accompanying driver.
If you drive a automatic this does not count as knowing how to drive. gotta take test in proper car.

lyndsayc1984
I don't drive, but it's one of the stupidest things this country has ever brought into force. 420,000 drivers with provisional licences in Ireland and they expect them all to have another with them at all times? It's going to disrupt a lot of people. A friend studies medicine and commutes to Dublin from Wexford 5 days a week - what's he to do now? He's only been driving about 2 months - that's a lot of pressure to put on someone to pass their test after such a short amount of time. And I'm sure he's not alone.

And what's this about the gardai being able to use their discretion? I can see there being a lot of cases of 'it's who you know', that sort of thing. What a joke.

I think its a small price to pay to stop people being killed on the roads. Its not exactly convienient but i think its worth it.
It will stop people being lazy about getting their full licences anyway.
