Questions about CORK ?? help me please !!!? |
Hello,
We are 2 french students in Tourism. We arrive in Cork October 6th to work for a year.
We are looking for a flat (a little flat just for 2 persons, our budget = about 500 euros) and a job (anything!).
But from france its very difficult to find those things.
I'm very motivated but now i'm discourage,
do you think that's difficult to find a job and a flat in Cork ?
Do you have some address ?
Thanks a lot for your answers, and sorry for my "spoken english" !!!!!

You won't have much trouble getting a job in waitressing, bar work, hotel work etc.
Have a look at this:

I can recommend you some websites which might help in your search.
For renting, the biggest websites are daft.ie and myhome.ie. I don't know much about the price of renting, but I don't think €500 would get you much in the City Centre.
In terms of jobs, you could look at jobs.ie or monster.ie |

For jobs, you can try www.recruitireland.ie, www.fas.ie but I don't think you'll have much of a problem finding one. I suggest looking for a house share rather than a flat, much easier given that Cork is a student city. |

You will definitely be able to find an apartment once you're there but it's pretty much impossible to find it from abroad. You can contact an agency called Celtic Halls (www.celtichalls.com) that can find you accommodation sharing with other people for about 130 euro a week. I know it's quite expensive but you have the advantage that you can book it from France and you'll have a place to stay the very day you get to Cork. A friend of mine used them and the room he got is very nice, in a nice house in a good area. Once you're there you can look for the apartment you need/want. You can look on www.daft.ie, www.let.ie or the Irish Examiner or the Echo (newspapers).
A job won't be as easy as it used to be, you have better chances if your english is good but if it's poor you won't be able to get much more than a glass collector job in a pub. Look for jobs on www.jobs.ie. |
