No, I reckon she should be compulsarily sterilised, have all her children put into care and be made to do unpaid community service for the next hundred years.

Whatever they get it will never be enough. People like her should be sterilized and never allowed to be anywhere near children again. Maybe if she got off her lazy **** and got a job shed have money and wouldnt have to resort to this deplorable scheme. Lets hope Shannon can have a better life without her monster of a mother

Well I agree with all you say, however with today's revelation that Social Services carried out psychological report on this woman in 2003 that her defence will appeal on the grounds of her mental state. Which will probably mean if it is upheld she will spend the rest of her days in an mental institution. I think the same will apply to Donovan for the part he played in this dreadful crime.

What she gets in jail will make it all worthwhile..........I just can't comprehend how thick these people were to think that they would be given Â£50,000, no questions asked, what idiots.
I feel sorry for the rest of her kids as well, the only good thing is they will have been taken into care and may now stand half a chance in life with a decent foster family.

As crazy as this answer may sound, women should be licensed to have children. You can have one, but apply for a license thereafter. Good god there is some excuses of mothers out there, usually the one's who spend their day in Spar, in their pyjamas, and sponge what they can off the government. "the more children you have, the more money you get" kinda attitude. These poor little mites, being dragged up, not brought up, are having the same attitude bred into them, hence it being a vicious circle. If the mother wanted to have a second child, she would need to apply for a license for same, and whoever grants the license's could see if she could look after it, rare it, and financially care for it, along with the love and affection that naturally comes, or should naturally come with motherhood. Genuine, decent Irish, or whatever nationality Mammy's, who would love, care and do right by their children would have no problems in having more children as social workers, or whomever would see by previous children, they are in no danger of being landed with the likes of Shannon Matthews mother, or more so, like Baby P's mother. Early detection of a possibly abuse, would stop another poor child being landed with disgusting parents like them. I myself, have one child, a boy, and I wouldn't have another purely as if I did, he would not get the upbringing he is getting now, as I would have to spread the wealth, and I don't feel it fair for him to loose out...plus I think I'd go mad going back to the baby phase!!

I think they should be imprisoned for a triple life sentance ( so there is absolutely no chance of getting out early) but not go to one of those "nice" (compared to other prisons around the world) jails in this country, which have T.V's and xbox 360's etc. (not 100% sure if thats true but its what i've heard, tell me if i'm wrong) , but should be in one abroad that is very, very rough. They have no heart, and so should be treated as sub-human scum.

Let them rot in a harsh prison. Giving them a death penalty would be getting let off easy.

She is pure evil. I hope she spends alot of time thinking about how damaged her daughter is going to be as a consequence of her greed and her actions. She should get a substantial jail sentence. At least 20 years, and she should be made to serve all of it. Where is Shannon now? I hope she is getting help to come to terms with the wrongs she has been done and I really hope she is with someone who will love and cherish her and show her that not all people are like her vile mother.
