Hi, I moved to Johannesburg 2months ago and I feel like I can no longer stay here, Im jus not happy here. I basically want to go home!! I love my country and I has always held great opportunities for me, but everyone here is advising me not to go home because the economy is gone really bad and I am so worried that It will be the wrong decision... But I really wanna go back ye know.. just looking for other opinions, South Africa or Ireland(my home)?????

Depends on what you're qualified to do. Start looking online for a job in Ireland, in any case.

The situation is not 'gone really bad'. Really bad was during the 1980s, when people were really struggling - now all that's happening is that people have to give up some unnecessary luxuries, and learn to be frugal. It's not what I'd call a 'really bad' situation.

I personally wouldn't come back. I would look into another county, I totally understand the homesick scenario etc, but however down you are now, you will be worse when you get home. You can't even get a job in McDonalds now. I'd find another country, and try start there. The jobs are so few and far between now. They say on average, 33 people per county are signing on every day, that should tell you how bad things are.

Could you do a bit of traveling on your way back, like stopping of in america for a bit, around europe..

I can understand why you want to come home, i would. But it really isn't great at the mo.

Id just take your time, hopefully this time next year things might be looking up...

Fingers x....

capeverdeirishgirl
