All this talk as if the republic wants norther Ireland, I think you will find the vast majority dont want anything to do with it or the high taxes involved in having to run norther ireland. Plus the bigotry and intolerance would ruin irelands image. Somebody cut them loose.
Woah the shinners are out today. I would like more thumbs down so here it goes " Sinn Fein scum, do you want a chicken dinner bobby sands,

Ireland is already free from British rule.

If it is Northern Ireland you mean then I would like to point out that they have a devolved government and rule themselves.

Now go away and stop trying to start a flame war.

You wouldn't by any chance be American would you? With a question like that you certainly aren't Irish.

Your question is rather silly. Referendums over the last few years in Northern Ireland show over 80% wish to remain British. The IRA tried to force by murder over fifty years the people to become united with Republic Ireland but this merely strengthened their determination to remain British. Attitudes like yours cause death among innocents. The days of the IRA are over. The whole island is FREE of their murderous ways.

Ireland is a free state and has been free from British rule for the past 86 years.

It is better to let the Hare Sit, an Old Style Irish Saying. Meaning it is better to leave well enough alone, it would cause more trouble than it is worth. There is Peace there now for the first time in 80 Years. Until such time that everybody can agree on such a Proposal by Voting in a Referendum it is best to leave things as they are. we are now Citizens of Europe.

well, I think that if the north was to become part of the republic again, it would just degenerate into the troubles chapter 2. So I think it should be left the way it is. Id PREFER it if we had the united Ireland, buy practically I think it would be worse for the people if we did

Maybe in the same way that Alaska should be freed from American rule and returned to Russia. Is this why Palin is so antsy towards the Russians??

----go on de burca!

anonymus
I think they should. Most of Ireland is already free; but not the northern part. Back in the 20's the IRA wasn't bad. I support what they were doing in the 20's (partly because I'm Irish). I think Northern Ireland should be free, but that's my opinion.

hopefully one day there will be an end to partition in ireland and there is a 32 county irish republic.

Again does no one go to school!!!!!

The republic of Ireland is completely free from British rule and has been since independence almost 100 years ago. Is your question pertaining to the six counties of Ulster? i.e. should the complete island of Ireland be free from British rule? my answer is yes, I would love to see the six counties join the 26 where it belongs.

IRISH AND PROUD
i don't know!

plato
The Northern Irish want to rule themselves-they don't want involved with the South or have British rule. One reason for this is bigotry! I'm from the North and that's how I see it!
Within the EU it will soon become immaterial but it's nice to hold on to one's identity and not be like a load of sheep!
