Im speaking for the majority of south Armagh.

Ireland is much more united than it was 30 years ago, that's for sure. It's not so much England as Britain, and to be honest, if you told everyone of British descent to get out or Ireland, not just Northern Ireland but much of the Republic would be affected.

Northern Ireland is home for many people who consider themselves British, but to be honest, nationality is merely a piece of paper at the end of the day. Your home is something far deeper and more important.

Ireland should be united when the people who live in the two different parts of the island agree to unite and not before.

The Irish people, both from the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland voted in the Good Friday Agreement in 1985 to accept democratic process and to cease putting pressure on the people of Northern Ireland to cede to the South. The Government of the Irish Republic dropped article 2 of its constitution which laid claim to the six counties of Northern Ireland as a result of that all-Ireland vote.

In the meantime, whilst the majority of Northern Ireland wish to stay as a part of the United Kingdom - they will, without pressure from any political or partisan grouping.

Remember - it is not the English, or any other race who make the people of Northern Ireland want to stay British. It is self-determination and they have that democratic right.

As much as I'd be delighted to see it, unless enough of the people in the Six Counties want to make it happen, it isn't going to happen. So much has changed in the last fifteen or so years, but more time is needed. Please remember that the Six Counties have been British for 207 years; there won't be anything easy or simple about reintegrating into the Republic. And even after it happens, there will probably be strong cultural differences and perceptions from those in the rest of the Republic, even in the Nationalist community, for several more generations. Give it time; it'll probably happen, but not quickly, not soon.

Ireland is united. It's one big island.

England has nothing to do with those counties in the north - it doesn't 'rule' them. They are part of the UK and governed by the same laws as the rest of the UK, same as Scotland, England and Wales. If the people of NI wish to become part of the Republic they will be given the vote to leave the UK. But who says the Republic wants those six counties anyway?

England's bags should have never been unpacked! If they English weren't so greedy and let us be we would not have lost 1000's of people (and if you count the famine millions) to our causes. I know the famine had nothing to do with independence but England hardly did anything to help, did they?!

there is now a rising opinion of people in the republic who dont want reunification, for the simple fact that it would plunge the economy of the republic back to the 1950`s , you have to realise the huge economic strain that would have to be burdned by the irish republics tax payer. administrative bodies would have to change over the healt system(we all know how effed up our own is let alone the hospitals in the north which are better run adding to this burden) then the primary secondary and universities have to be funded.

This consensus of people in the republic who are opposed to irish reunification is rising 48% i think. but of course it makes no difference if you have the power to vote and do nothing and then question the fact after.

Let britan burden this cost of running northern ireland, it will be their eternal punishment, remember most of the problems in africa were caused by the britishcolonies pulling out overnight and leaving nothing

well if it's what the majority of people in the north want then yes.

but there's finally the long-awaited for peace so i don't see why it should be mixed up by giving the 6 counties back,because that could re-ignite the violence.

My answer to your question is yes, but with respect to England packing their bags, not sure what you mean by this? If you mean the protestants in Northern Ireland, for one, if they were born in Northern Ireland, that is where they are from, not England, so why should they have to 'pack their bags' and get back to a country that they are not from, and in a lot of cases probably have never even been to?
