I think if English people were truely sorry for what was done and had finally matured then they would let go of something that is not theirs. I'm told to respect English people yet they have returned so many countrys back to their natives and yet refuse me mine; no respect from them, none from me.

As an Irish person, from the Republic, I think that by rights they should be part of the rest of the island, but then in the context of the EU, this is a redundant question, given that the only real difference is in the currency.

That decision should be made by the people there. One island, one nation is a fine aspiration, but it can't be imposed. Only as a free choice, it might work without resentments and revisiting the btterness of history. There has been too much of that.
