It used to be. It didn't work out. Check out the history and see why almost no one seriously wants to go back to that. |

Are you smoking crack? We spent 800 years trying to get them out and now you think we should go back on bended knee. Let me explain it this way.... there is more chance of the Pope admitting he has fancied the **** of George Bush for the past twenty years, then there is of us( The Republic of Ireland) EVER EVER been ruled by a foreign government. Theres millions of people rolling in their graves at your suggestion. Go and have a lie down and it the morning all the crazy thoughts will be gone. You'd get shot here for even mentioning something like that. |

As an American I should not even answer this, but I will. No The Republic or Ireland should not become part of Great Britian. LIke it was said before Northern Ireland should be part of the republic. |

Should China become part of Britain? Does it matter what the land is called? We are all individuals aren't we? Personally I tell people I come from Britain, not that I am British because I am not, I am me and I belong to myself not some flag, land mass or anyone else for that matter. |

I presume you're referring to this quote from a BNP 2005 manifesto. I note in your previous answers you support and vote for the BNP.
There would be a permanent standing invitation for Eire to join the pan-British parliament as an equal partner. It would be a matter for the citizens of each of the British nations to decide for themselves if they wished for the reigning head of the House of Windsor to be their Head of State, but he or she would not be head of the pan-British parliament, thereby making it realistic to hope that the Irish would find it possible to rejoin the British Family of Nations, taking their rightful place side-by-side with the representatives of England, Scotland, Wales and Ulster, and ending for ever the Brothers' War which has been our Achilles Heel, tragedy and shame since our Masters set us at each others' throats generations ago.
http://www.bnp.org.uk/candidates2005/manifesto/manf2.htm
The overwhelming majority of residents in the republic would not agree with the ideas set forth by the BNP.
Most Irish people, like most English people, have great pride in their customs and traditions. Homogenizing a group of distinct peoples, like the BNP's ideas above, reminds me more of the days of the British Empire. These wern't good times for the Irish. There is alot of evidence for this. Google the subject.
Also note the attempt by the BNP to use the phrase "rejoin the British Family of Nations". As if we willingly became part of the British Empire in the first place!
No it shouldn't.
It will never happen. |

talk about asking a sensitive question!
ireland fought against becoming another one of britains countrys....hence why its called the Republic of Ireland. Northen ireland is a part of the uk, but the republic of ireland isint and never will be.....this is our independance...we wouldnt have it any other way....we would not want to be ruled by a queen/king, we have a democracy over here and were happy......we are our own country, with an eu curency, an official language of our own, a democratic republic, why would we ever go back to being ruled by another country...it just doesnt make any sense!
this question raises a lot of anger in some people, so just be careful what your posting!!:) |

This is a question which has been asked and fought over for at least 500 years...so not a question you can simply answer here... |
