The Nine Lives of Laura Gonzales
Honestly, most TV produced here is a bit of a joke *cough-tv3-cough* but there's still some good stuff out there.

most of the highest rated programmes in Ireland are home programmes - the Irish version of the apprentice has big ratings, every week - fair city, killinascully, the podge and rodge show, the panel, the late late show and the clinic - are the most watched programmes of the week, they are all Irish programmes.

the british apprentice has high ratings aswell but not everyone can get bbc1, x factor is popular here because tv3 shows it, most of the reality shows are popular (both Irish ones like livin with lucy (rte2), the underdogs on tg4 (irish language) and British ones like x factor, I'm a celebrity....get me out of here and big brother.), the British reality shows are even more popular if there is an Irish person on them. on tv3 Britain's got Talent and America's got talent are popular.

other foreign programmes that get high ratings are soaps - British ones - Coronation street, Eastenders and Emmerdale and Australian soap Home and Away. American programmes like Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, the 3 CSI's - Miami being probably the most watched out of the 3 and prison break.

the last Irish programme that everyone was watching was naked camera.Nothing really has had the same popularity since.

I know everyone looks at the rugby commentators on RTE , as well as the soccer ones. They are brilliantly honest and sometimes more entertaining than the games they comment on.

News and current affairs programmes get good audiences aswell.

But as a nation we do tune into what is popular in the UK, X factor, strictly come dancing , Heroes, desperate housewives, prison break, and all those CSI's.
the you tube vid, is a scene from naked camera, with George Hook, one of the rugby commentators

Spongebob and South Park are both televised in Irish on TG4 - it's a trip watching South Park as Gaeilge!

And of course Podge and Rodge. Goes without saying really ....
